Māramatanga:  Ako refers to educational philosophy, theory, and applied practice for teaching and learning.  Within the context of wānanga, Ako recognises a reciprocal responsibility and obligation to learning between the kaiako and the tauira. This involves sharing ideas, knowledge, and lived experience within time, space, and energy.  

Ngā Āhuatanga: This manawa seeks to grow, develop and evolve transformative methods, approaches, and practices of teaching adult learners.  Grounded in the conceptual and practical concepts of the Ako Wānanga pedagogical framework, this manawa is a space to explore and discuss how facilitators of mātauranga Māori can effectively engage in Whanaungatanga, Te Hiringa, and Aro to achieve Ako excellence. 

Hapori: Providers, facilitators and leaders of educational delivery interested in holding spaces within the New Zealand Education system where the learning process is underpinned by ngā uara, ngā huanga me ngā takepū – kaupapa Māori values, attributes, and principled practices.
